ECochG - Electrocochleography

What is it?
A test that uses 3 stick-on electrodes and one special gel-enclosed electrode that is carefully placed on the patient's ear drum to pick up and measure a response from the inner ear (cochlea). Patient also listens to aclicking sound.

What does the patient have to do?
Pre-test instructions just explain test length, and not to wear makeup. During the test the patient needs to lay still and relax their facial muscles as much as possible, just as in an ABR.

Why is it done?
To look specifically at the electrical potential from the inner ear.

How long does it take?
It is scheduled for an hour, 4 intervals. This allows for time
needed for good placement of electrode on eardrum and muscle interference.

Please allow 7-10 days for doctor follow-up.
